Well folks, the eve of summer is upon us. To my mind, it has already passed. How was yours? Mine…wasn’t terriffic. I am looking forward to a new season and am determined to make fall fun. But whatever else I can say about the summer, I have to admit, it was pretty kick ass in terms of pop culture. I saw 4 shows (3 musicals, 1 play); saw my boys play in Chicago; discovered some new bands and podcasts; read great books; went to a great film festival; and even had time to watch (or re watch) some TV. So it wasn’t all bad.
Below is the first installment of my best of summer pop culture picks. Feel free to share yours in the comments!
And we’re back. Had a lovely time in Chicago, despite the heat. Came back to…more heat. And more lists. So here is part two of the television survey making its way around the internet. Go here for part one.
Regular readers of this blog know I cannot resist a list. Much like Rob Gordon and his buddies, pop culture lists are my kryptonite. I take them very seriously.
So this survey has been going around the internet for a while. You are supposed to do 30 posts in 30 days, and answer one question per day. But who has the time to do that? Well, let me be more generous here: I do not have the time to do that. Instead, I’m going to lump them all into two big posts. Warning: This could get long. And um, probably spoilers ahead for various TV shows.
In my last post, I mentioned one of the reasons I started craving Gilmore was from listening to a mix I made a few years back. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve listened to it at least once a day. It’s pretty darn good, if I do say so myself, so I thought I’d share it with you all.
When I first put the mix together, I had an explanation for every song. Now that it’s been a few years, I don’t remember my exact reasoning for all of them. (Or, in some cases I do, but my reasons are way too dorky, even for this blog.) Explanations will be given when appropriate. The theme is music inspired by Lorelai Gilmore, so sometimes, I just think – were she real, she’d dig the song.
Without further adieu: Lorelai (Inspired) Music Continue reading
Welcome back to the longest, most drawn out “best of” list in blogging history. We’re up to part 4 of The Great Frasier Rewatch. For those wondering how many damn parts there will be, I promise, only one more. Is it MY fault they had so many great episodes?
Ok, I can’t take responsiblity for the quality of the show, but I will take responsiblity for my anal list-making, and for the fact that I take said list-making so seriously that I can’t bear to leave even one of the 40 or so episodes I chose off this list. Or for the fact that I *may* have added some more to the list over the course of this exercise.
For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, you can catch up on the first three installments here.
So, we’re up to season 5. Ready?
Much like season 3, this was a particularly strong season for Frasier. Inevitably there will be some worthy episodes I left out. In theory, most every episode from seasons 1 to 7 could be on the list. But that would mean at least 30 installments, and would take years to finish. With that in mind, my picks for season 5.
